Forest Drive West ‎| They Live Remixed
Label: Midgar ‎– MDG017X
Format: Vinyl, 12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP
Released| 05 Mar 2021

Some two years on from the release of Forest Drive West's rather good They Live EP, Midgar has decided to get the set remixed. They've chosen a very interesting selection of producers to provide the reworks, so it's little surprise to find that the resultant remixes are well worthy of attention.

Wata Igarashi steps up first to deliver a decidedly dark, clandestine-sounding revision of 'Phosphenes' that adds ghostly chords, moody riffs and layered percussion to a pulsating broken techno groove, before Konduku re-imagines 'Block Nine' as a moody, spaced-out chunk of slipped techno hypnotism. Felix K's "reinterpretation" of 'Ricochet' is an atmospheric, ultra-deep, slow-motion affair full of starfall electronics, moody bass and intricately programmed percussion, while Pessimist's revision of 'They Live' sits somewhere between experimental D&B and skittish techno.
